From the Editors

Stick this electronic thermometer in a steak, roast, or turkey at the start of cooking and it will monitor the internal temperature and beep as each of six levels of doneness is reached, from very rare (110 to 119 degrees F) to well done for poultry (180 degrees F). It also functions as an instant-read thermometer for any food, showing the temperature within six seconds. Useful outdoors on the grill or indoors, the thermometer displays temperatures on an LCD screen and also says what level of doneness that temperature represents. There's no need to memorize the temperature levels, either, because the thermometer lists them on the back of its heat-resistant nylon body. The thermometer is 9 inches long, its stem is stainless steel for easy cleaning, it has a loop on the end for hanging on hook or peg, and it operates on a single AAA battery (included). --Fred Brack

Customer Response

slow
They say this reads in just 6 seconds. It didn't. It took more like 25 to 30 seconds from the time you immerse it in ice water till the display reads 32 F. It seemed even slower in meats. The display is tiny and hard to read. But, it was cheap. I'm told you have to spend $70 to $80 to get a professional "thermocouple" thermometer that can truly read a complete temperature in 6 seconds. So I guess you get what you pay for. I'm only disappointed that they claim this thing reads in 6 seconds.
