Does not last long.
My only issue with this item is that it didn't last very long. After about a year of very moderate use, the lining degraded and started coming off. To be fair, perhaps I should've been rinsing and drying it after each use, but somehow it just felt like not the best use of time. And now that I think about it, I am not that sure that it would've lasted longer if washed...
A more minor thing - this ring, although cheaper, does not look nearly as nice as those pewter or silver-plated ones. When you serve wine, this may matter. The Metrokane ring doesn't look too awful, but it won't draw any compliments for its appearance.
It is true that this drip stop ring does work as intended, and very well, when it is brand new.
I got this ring as part of a Metrokane kit sold at BBBY (with Metrokane Rabbit cork puller as main item). Now obviously I need a new ring or two - that's how I am here. I see that all alternatives are more expensive... and all feature "felt insert". The insert is "removable and washable" in Wine Line WL-N006 Satin Anti Drip Ring, but it is almost $15, and I'll have to pay shipping. I guess I'll see what they have in stores...
A must for the red wine drinker
I bought 8 of the rings for gifts. Everyone who drinks or serves wine agrees the drip stop ring helps when pouring wine and keeping the wine running down the bottle. Simple, inexpensive and so practical.
Well worth the purchase.
I purchased this in hopes that I wouldn't have to continually wipe the wine drop sliding down the bottle and prevent wine stains on my white counter top...it works great! For the price, you can't beat this gadget. There are alternatives however. I have seen the round discs that you can curl and insert halfway into the top of the bottle, which creates a thinner edge, preventing the "run down" effect.
It works!
I gave this as a gift for Christmas, and it worked like a charm at dinner. Not a drop on the table!
