Like everyone else I like icecream. Thought I would make it more than I do. Used it maybe three times. Hard to clean and the freezer container take up a ton of room in the freezer.
Venting
For $129 and s l o w UPS delivery I feel ripped off. With this item -- although it doesn't say it -- you still need to freeze the drums and, of course, in a couple of years the gel inside the drums will wear out. Stupid me! I thought it had a freezing unit in it for $129 so you just turned the switch on and you didn't need to plan a day ahead of time whether or not you'd be making ice cream. But maybe everyone else has room to keep the drums full time in their freezer. Maybe everyone else plans better than I do and isn't freezing elk, fish and fabulous fruit. Thanks for giving me space to vent.
Great ice cream with little fuss
We've had this unit a month or so and made ice cream twice. We use the Ben and Jerry's ice cream book and the results have been great. Smooth and creamy and full of flavor. It is a real treat and the unit works great. This isn't the most expensive one out there or the cheapest, but somewhere in the middle. It lives up to the product description. You will enjoy making ice cream with your kids and grand kids.
Great buy!
I looked for a long time at buying an ice cream maker. I ended up choosing this one and I am glad I did! It makes a wonderfully creamy ice cream with undetectable ice crystals. It's so easy, just pour in the mixture and let it go for about 20 minutes. You can walk away, which is great! It's only slightly noisy, nothing that bothers me, but may be annoying to some. Cleanup is simple as well, although remember to leave room for your add-ins (like chips or cookies) otherwise you'll overlow and create a mess (yes, I did that on my first time). All in all, it's a great maker for the price, I am very happy with the ease of use and clean up and it's nice to be able to make 1 or 2 quarts and to be able to make 2 different flavors!
Nice
I got this as a early x-mas gift for my mom. We've had it for only a few days. The first day I chilled the bowls for about 6 hours but our freezer is not cold enough because our first batch didn't turn out so well. I left the bowls overnight and that did the trick. I tried the mixed berry frozen yogurt and it turned out pretty well, it was very easy to make. I changed it around a little bit yesterday and instead of making the yogurt with berries I used mango pulp which you can get at asian supermarkets, just follow the recipe like the booklet and it will turn out fine. One thing about the machine I find myself doing is leaving more than 1/4 inch of space from the top of the bowl, otherwise the stuff expands over the top opening. It is easy to clean and use. The noise for me is bearable, I would not be in the same room with it but it is definitely not so bad. Make sure to read the instruction booklet before you try assembling the machine to avoid looking like a Neanderthal in front of friends and family as happened to me.
