Multi-function timer keeps us on track
I was looking for an inexpensive timer with a memory function so I wouldn't have to keep setting it, and I found what I wanted in this timer. I can set the timer for 20 minutes for the kids to clean up and just use the memory button to do another 20 minutes. I keep one at the computer with 30 minutes in memory to monitor the kids computer time.

I love that the timer also has a "count-up" feature. I can have the kids do a chore and have them guess how long it will take (and it's always less than they think it will be.) I've used this feature myself to time my routines to see if I'm accurate in how long it takes.

I bought several of these timers (one for each kid and one for me) to keep around the house. So one kid can be taking a bath using the timer to know when it's time to stop playing and get out, and another can be on the computer and another reading with their timer.

I would definitely recommend this timer because of the functionality. (It also has a clock, so you can flip back and forth between clock, timer or count-up clock.)

simple and perfect
I originally bought this timer at Dick Smith's in New Zealand, (they are nearly identical to the ones on Amazon) and they were so amazing that I bought three more. I love products that are simple and work exactly the way they are supposed to. So many other either aren't loud enough, break easily, aren't intuitively designed, or don't have the features that you actually need, but give you ones you don't.

This timer has 3 settings: Clock, Count-Up, and Timer. It has a analog switch that lets you choose between modes. If you choose timer mode, you can independently choose how many seconds, minutes, and/or hours you want to count down from. (up to 24 hours). It will continue to count down no matter what mode you switch to, and the alarm will sound when it reaches zero, regardless of what mode you are in (which is nice). You can even use count-up at the same time!

Another great thing is that when the timer reaches 0:00:00 it will begin counting up so you can figure out how far off you were on your target time. (also: the alarm sounds for exactly 1 minute),

I honestly have several of these timers, which I use for many different purposes and keep them all over the house: Timing showers for water consumption, cooking, drying glue, doing wash, measuring distance over time, time management, etc.

They're basically perfect.

PROS: Timer and count-up work at the same time; remembers settings indefintely; loud alarm; big display; memory setting; independently choose hour/minute/second; numbers go up quickly if button is held; battery lasts a long time and are easy to come by; has a clip AND strong magnet; when timer finishes counting down, it starts counting up again

CONS: buttons make loud beeping sound when pressed; no alarm setting for the clock; time is displayed in AM/PM only, not army time (if you're into that); 24 hour limit on timer/count up (usually enough); alarm goes off for 1 minute only (which can also be a blessing if you're still in the shower for another 5 minutes!); this is not a stopwatch! (it can't do laps or milliseconds)

Good timer, not cat-proof
This is an excellent timer and I am about to buy my second model. It withstood being knocked to the floor by my bad cats several times before becoming seriously unreliable. Easy to use.

Easy to use
Counts up, counts down and has a real time clock feature with easy to select modes using a slide switch on the side. The fold out support arm and large magnet also make it easy to position in an easy-to-see place and an easy-to-use location.

I have two and just leave one of them on the grill at all times ready for the next use.
