Customer Response

As advertised
I have used these Forman Grills for about 10 years. The cook well, but the only knock is if you scratch it or you use the non-Forman grill sponge it will go to hell with flaking of the cooking surface. As long as you use the right sponge and not something abrasive it will last a long time.

Outstanding Grill
I've been a previous owner of George Foreman grills. This is the first I've owned with the removable plates. I did own a different brand grill with removable plates, but those plates weren't all that great, the grease drainage was horrible and it was too small.

This George Foreman knocks it out of the park again. What's not to love about this grill? It cooks fast, drains great and has multiple plates to cook with. I am very pleased with my purchase and did make this purchase based on the excellent reviews it had here on Amazon.

I will send out a small warning. Upon my first usage, before placing food on the grill, it smoked from under the bottom plate. I removed the plate and discovered that, what I believed was, left over packing grease or glue from manufacturing was the cause of the smoke. A simple wipe down of both areas where the plates sit fixed the smoking issue and now I have had zero issues with the grill sense. I love how the grill, unlike previous Foreman grills, doesn't make a mess while draining the grease into the catch trays.

I recommend this grill!!!

What a mistake this George Foreman purchase was
I was in the market for a waffle maker. I fell in love with the round ones they have in the motels where they serve continental breakfast and I wanted a similar model. Just as I was narrowing down my choice, a friend suggested the Foreman five plate grill. She liked the waffles and the ability to grill meat, make sandwiches, etc. I should have invited myself over for breakfast first to see first hand.
This has been my experience: The waffles take way more than the recommended amount of batter. It is difficult to judge how much because a few tablespoons either way will give you uneven waffles or gobs of batter dripping out the sides. The waffles cook unevenly. The back edge of the waffles are undercooked, the middle overcooked and the front just right. Out of the 15 or so waffles I have made, about 10 stuck so badly to the plates that they were ruined. About two came out without a struggle. I always spray the grills with oil before cooking but it doesn't seem to help
If you want to make Paninis, be ready for the meat grill texture marks all over your sandwich and, of course, the bread sticking to the top grill and the filling falling out the back. You can use the flat plate for the bottom but there is no flat grill for the top.
As a meat grill, the results are ok but cleaning the top and bottom grill plates are a nightmare. I bought a special plastic brush with a soap reservoir and it still takes soaking, scrubbing, more soaking and more scrubbing. I used the dishwasher for the first time and now the grill plates are back soaking in the sink to get off the food particles even the dishwasher couldn't clean.
I wouldn't recommend this to anyone.

Even Better
I really liked my original George Forman grill, but this one is even better. The best part is having the interchangable plates. It is easy to switch them and use the appropriate plate for whatever you want to cook. Steak, chicken, grilled sandwiches, pancakes, waffles --- everything comes out just great! And cleanup is so easy. I find myself using this grill much more often than my original one. It is my new favorite way to cook.

LOVE IT!
I absolutely love this grill. The removable, dishwasher safe plates is exactly what I was looking for. I had a first generation grill but the plates were not removable. Let's just say that it went swimming a couple times in the sink. Anyway, I bought this G5 model for some friends of mine last year and they love it. I decided after hearing their reviews that I would get one for myself. It's the best ever. I highly recommend it.
