Great Product!
I purchased this for my girlfriend, who does some micro-cooking. The item arrived very promptly and was exactly what was pictured. Best of all she loves it!
Not even close to stove-top omelets
For me, this is really a "2", but I'll give it a "3" mainly because it's a bit easier than using a pan on the stove and the taste is OK, but it is not remotely close to a good stove-top omelet. All those reviewers who say it's "perfect" cannot have ever had a really good omelet.
These omelets are better than the rubbery eggs I tried many years ago when microwaves first came out, but most of that is likely due to better microwave technology, not this device.
As with all microwaves, the cooking is uneven. It gets done around the edges while still liquid in the middle. The instructions say to stir halfway through. I think stirring 3-4 times is required for a really good result. If I'm going to have to do all that, it's easier on the stove.
Also, as with all microwaves, timing is critical. You really need to watch it, at least the first few times. Again, if I have to stand there, I might as well use the stove and get a really good omelet and be able to watch it and add ingredients without having to stop and start or open and close the door.
The unit seems fairly well made, but poorly finished. As with the egg cooker, there are ragged edges and burrs that snag dish cloths and could scratch or even cut.
I did not use any butter or spray, because the instructions didn't call for it. It wasn't a horrible mess, but definitely did not clean easily. It required hot soapy water and some scrubbing. The color makes it hard to see stuck on egg. I'll try it again with butter or non-stick spray. If the results are noticeably better, I'll post an update. Either way, I deduct something either for sticking or for incomplete instructions.

I first bought this after my sister raved about it. I make Omelets with it a couple of times a month and it does a great job. But I use it daily to cook steel cut oats. 1/2 cup oats plus 1/2 cup water. Place it in the microwave and place a filled coffee cup of water on top of it to keep the oats from pushing the lid open. Mine is a 1200 watt microwave. I cook it at 40% power for 6 minutes and it is perfect every time.
Now my kid cooks for me
This is a great little product. I actually purchased it a little kitchen supply shop. I am a guy who likes to cook, but I look for products to make my cooking more efficient and reduces clean up time. The first time I made an omelet in this device, I overcooked it because I was getting used to my microwave's settings but after that I was home free. I gave my 15 year old daughter a portion of mine and she enjoyed it. Two days later, she came to me one afternoon and asked if I could make her and omelet. I told her no, but I would show her how. Now she cooks them for me.
I love this product because it is quick and is easy to clean up. I no longer wait for a skillet to cool down to wash. I flop the omelet out onto a plate, give the pan a quick rinse in hot water and then rub with a soft scrub pad and this thing looks new again. Three eggs fill mine so I no longer try to cook four eggs at once. Often, I just cut the cooked omelet into two halves and slap them on bread to make two sandwiches. This becomes my own breakfast muffin of sorts which I eat in the car or while fishing on my boat. The other day I cut the omelet into long halves and placed them in soft tortilla shells to become breakfast burritos.
I will soon travel to Europe for a few weeks and will take this device with me as I can keep some of the meal cost down by making myself an omelet from time to time.
Here is how I cook mine. I mix 3 eggs in a bowl with two tablespoons of milk. The instructions say you can use milk or water for that part. After the eggs are scrambled in the bowl, you pour the eggs equally into each side of the cooking pan. I microwave mine for one minute and 35 seconds and then remove it from the microwave. I take a fork and run it around of the edge of each egg half to keep it separated from the edge of the pan. Then to one side of the egg, I add a torn up slice of american cheese, some slices of honey deli ham which I get in a three pack from Costco, a small bit of chopped green onions and season with salt and pepper. I then quickly close the cooking pan so the the other egg half lays onto of my ham cheese mix. I cook for another one minute 35 seconds, and I am done. Just slide the omelet onto a plate and you are ready to go.
I see other folks talking about pre coating the pan with non stick spray, but I never have and my eggs have never had an issue sliding right out of the pan.
Can you tell I love this product. I know you will like it too. I would have loved to have had this device with me in the dorms at college. Of course, back then, not too many microwaves around, lol.
Very useful!
A useful product, especially for people who are in a hurry to make an omlette in a microwave. Grease the pan and pour the beaten eggs, a fuffy omlette is ready in about 2 minutes. Ideal for students in a dorm, office use.
