get ready for a mess
Grills fine, but they made mistakes on design.

-Open ends => sends splatters of grease to the sides back and front.. so your counter is now grease spotted.
-grease Chanel is heated... so it heats the grease making extra splatter up front.
-when you open it, it drips grease on the back.. there is no channel or anything to collect it, so ends on your counter.
-non stick is ... not so non stick. You ll be cleaning the grill while your steak gets cold.

it does cook fine..

Makes exceptional chicken breasts
This is a great grill and a must-have for those who like to grill their meat. I used to be very hesitant to cook chicken breasts because when I pan-fried or baked them they would never taste very juicy or flavorful. Now with the Hamilton Beach Super Sear I can make pounds of juicy flavorful chicken breasts super easy! The searing function is great for fish, steak and chicken/turkey. It captures the juciness and is incredible easy to handle; no constant turning or fears of uneven cooking, just get a nice meat thermometer too! My only complaint about the device is the cleanup. Unfortunately without the removable plates it can be a pain to wipe all the crude off, which then gets onto the countertop. But the non-stick surface is mostly nonstick so it isn't a nightmare just a sad reality. I'm extremely satisfied with this grill just wish it wasn't a hassle to clean off.

super sear grill

This is a great indoor grill. Cooks smaller steaks, chicken very well. I read a lot of reviews before I bought it. I had thought I wanted one with removable grill plates to be easier to clean but didn't like the reviews. And this one even without removable plates is very easy to clean. Just follow the directions to put a wet paper towel on it after use when it has cooled off a little. I have not had any problems wiping it clean. Works like a charm every time. I thought "Yea , sure " when I first read those directions. The only thing to remember is that the steel handles stay hot for a long time. Be careful and don't touch them while cleaning.

Grill is okay. But very difficult to clean
I purchased this grill based on the review and also knowing it does NOT have removable plates.

The grill itself performs well. However I am returning it as it is very difficult to clean properly.
Because of the non removable plates, it is not practical at all.

Definitely better than a foreman :)
I bought the hamilton beach super sear grill for my husband for our anniversary and We both love it. It's nice for those rainy days where you can't grill outside. The only thing we don't like about it is the clean up is a little difficult but it's not to bad if you clean it while it's still hot. We definitely would recommend it to anyone. :D ~Cindy~
